TalkBack for July 29
Up a creek
With all this election stuff going on, with Georgia's pine pellets and Carolina's bobblehead dolls and action figures, aren't we up the creek?
Hang 'em high
Remember when we used to hang horse thieves and cattle rustlers? What's the difference between a burglar invading your house and a cattle rustler? Let's hang them all.
Something better
I don't like Kathleen Parker. Anything she has to say, she's a radical, and we need something better here in this paper.
Ignore atheists
The City Council of Aiken should ignore the atheist organization who filed a complaint about prayers being prayed, especially in Jesus' name. I would continue to do it because it is not against the law. It is high time we stop giving in to organizations who don't like what we do in our state. This is protected by the Constitution.
Students rising
Why is it that whenever the Aiken Standard refers to every student they use the adjective "rising"? This is true whether the student is a college senior, a high school sophomore, or a student in the third grade. I know some people who would have been called "rising" by the Standard, that were in my high school class, and they ended up in jail. I don't think anyone is entitled to the adjective "rising" until they have played the game of life in the real world for several years.
SRS is best
This is to the person who said the SRS folks aren't the only one's who'd like to get home after work. That may be true, but they are the most important ones.
Elderly first
Who buys more groceries? Who buys more prescriptions? Most of the time, it's us older people. And is the state planning on balancing this budget on us old people's back? Obama cut us out last year on our rate increase for Social Security. Now the state is wanting to take away another five percent.
