St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church in Aiken was the setting for the July 12, 2008, wedding of Miss Anna Lindsay Sacks and William Bennett Tucker, both of Aiken. The Revs. Joseph S. Whitehurst and Ella H. Breckenridge and the Rev. Dr. David B. Cozad officiated. Mr. Kenneth H. Courtney served as organist and Mr. Gilberto Hurtarte was the vocalist. Communion music was provided by Miss Hope Spruill and Mr. David M. Busch. Scripture readers were Mrs. Austin B. Scott of Aiken and Mr. T. Bradley Tucker, uncle of the bridegroom, of Chrisman, Ill.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Lawrence Sacks of Aiken. She is the maternal granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Dudley Erb of Aiken and the paternal granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Sacks.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Handley Tucker of Aiken. He is the maternal grandson of Mrs. Roger Bennett Etherington of Upper Montclair, N.J., and the late Mr. Etherington and the paternal grandson of Mrs. Walter Tucker Jr. of Paris, Ill., and the late Mr. Tucker.
The bride chose her sisters, Miss Catharine Elizabeth Sacks and Miss Margaret Emily Sacks, both of Aiken, as her maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Ivy L. Evans of Rock Hill, Miss Christine Z. Lumans and Miss Anna K. Duckett, both of Aiken.
William Handley Tucker served as his son's best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Christopher C. Marra of Evans, Ga., Mr. R. Charles Gross Jr. of Gerton, N.C., Mr. George A. Gymer of Aiken and Mr. Bryan T. Duggan of Columbia. Ushers were Mr. A. Roy McClain of Honea Path, Mr. Timothy E. Kinney of Lexington and Mr. J. Edward Hedden of Greenville.
Mrs. Tucker is a graduate of Aiken High School and is a 2008 graduate of Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. She is employed by the Aiken County School District as a mathematics teacher at North Augusta High School, beginning in August.
Mr. Tucker is a graduate of Christ School in Arden, N.C., and is a 2006 graduate of Erskine College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management. He is employed by the Hitchcock Woods Foundation as woods superintendent and serves as a volunteer fireman for the City of Aiken.
Following a reception at Newberry Hall, the couple departed for a wedding trip to Caneel Bay in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. They will reside in Aiken.
