Roff L. Hudson
Answered God's call and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 12, 2008, Mr. Roff L. "R.L." Hudson, age 92 of Graniteville, husband of the late Lois Thompson Hudson and the late Johnnie Mae Johnson Burkett Hudson and son of the late Roff Hudson and the late Annie Stubbs Hudson. He is survived by a son, Ray T. (Faye) Hudson of Aiken; two daughters, Dorothy (Bill) McCarty of Branchville and Barbara (Jerry) Hadden of Hephzibah, Ga.; two sisters, Annie Mae Umphrey of Georgia and Mary Williams of Augusta, Ga.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was born in Lowndes County, Ga., but had been a lifelong resident of Aiken County. He was a member of St. John United Methodist Church in Graniteville. He was a member of Woodmen of The World Lodge #1094 in Aiken. He was an excellent self-employed auto mechanic by trade and well known throughout the area, as he had many customers and worked on many autos during his lifetime. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and just loved patronizing the Waffle House. A celebration of his life will be conducted on Monday, July 14, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. John United Methodist Church in Graniteville with Rev. Alan Quarles, Chaplain George Holcombe and Cheri Hicks officiating. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Roger Hudson, Lanny Hudson, Donnie Hudson, Roscoe Hightower, Carlisle Courtney and Danny Kimball. The family will receive friends at Napier Funeral Home tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. John United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 38, Graniteville, S.C. 29829 or to Regency Hospice, 105 Summerwood Way, Aiken, S.C. 29803. Mr. Hudson will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
