By MIKE GELLATLY  Staff writerThe execution date for David Mark Hill has been set. He will be put to death on June 6.The South Carolina Department of Corrections announced Wednesday that the date had been set for Hill who had successfully petitioned the high court to expedite his sentence.Hill requested of the South Carolina Supreme Court on April 1 that all of his future appeals and Post Conviction Relief (PCR) be waived and that he be put to death. The high court granted his motion. In the ruling handed down, the high court said Hill understands what he did and what it means to stop his appeals.Hill, 47, walked through the Department of Social Services office in North Augusta on Sept. 16, 1996, shooting three caseworkers. He was upset the agency had taken custody of his children. Police found Hill the next day on railroad tracks near the office with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.Hill will have the choice of receiving a lethal injection or death via the electric chair. A requested method must be sent to the Department of Corrections within 14 days of the execution or Hill will automatically face the recently upheld three-drug cocktail injection. In South Carolina, no one has been executed via the electric chair since 1996.Calls to Hill’s attorney, David Miller, were not returned Wednesday.
