Aiken City Council members and staff will continue discussions today on the Northside’s redevelopment and Crosland Park.

During Council’s first meeting on the City’s Northside, staff and Council discussed developing a land plan, either through staff or hiring a consultant, for the entire Crosland Park area at a cost of $50,000 to $100,000, depending on the scope of the work.

Staff and Council will discuss today whether to enter into a contract with the Urban Land Institute to bring a panel of experts across the state to suggest a plan of action and make a presentation to the community. The experts would consist of engineers, landscapers and architects, who would then meet with community leaders from the Northside area.

The Urban Land Institute is a nonprofit with the primary goal to help, move and sustain communities.

The meeting is open to the public, and will start at 5 p.m. in room 204 on the second floor of the Municipal Building, located at 214 Park Ave.
