Sara Ashley Sparks of Aiken and James Daniel Dowdy of Greensboro, GA were married August 16, 2014, at St. John’s United Methodist Church. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Mr. Donald James Sparks Jr. The Rev. Donnie Bates officiated.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald James Sparks Jr. of Aiken. She is the granddaughter of the late Franklin and Mrs. Monteen Martin and the Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Donald James Sparks.
The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Daniel Dowdy of Greensboro, Ga. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Terry and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dowdy.
Mrs. Anna Brett Daniel of Hanahan, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Libby Dowdy of Greensboro, GA, Miss Jessica Justice of Columbia, Miss Katie Queen of Louisville, KY, and Miss Tara Rigdon of Ocilla, GA.
Mr. Martin Daniel Dowdy of Aiken was the best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Tyler Burkhart of Garden City, KS; Mr. Corey Oakes of Doerun, GA; Mr. Gil Pound of Sparta, GA; and Mr. Ross Everett of Buford, GA.
Following a reception, the couple left for a wedding trip to Jamaica.
They will reside in Monroe, GA.
The bride is a 2007 graduate of South Aiken High School. She is a graduate of Clemson University with a BS in Food Science and a MS in Food Science. She is employed by Zaxby’s Franchising Inc.
The bridegroom is a 2007 graduate of Nathanael Greene Academy. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a BA in History. He is employed by Federated Mutual Insurance.
