This letter is in reference to the Smokey Bear article in the Aug. 10 edition of the Aiken Standard.

I really like it because it is so simple, but the message says a lot. If everyone built fires where they were supposed to be built, used responsible resources and properly maintained and cleaned up the fire, then we wouldn’t have to worry about as many forest fires. I am a boy scout with Troop 421 at Cedar Creek Church, and we always stress the importance of building fires safely, managing fires and doing our part to make sure that we leave a campsite in the same condition or better condition than what we found it. This article is a great reminder to all of us to be clean in our outdoor manners.
