CHAPLAIN’S CORNER: Present tense forgiveness

  • Tuesday, August 5, 2014

The congregation listened with interest as the Reverend Tyler Strange preached about the spiritual peace that comes when the Spirit of God controls our lives. He emphasized the wonderful reality of God’s forgiveness of sins and how this can occur in the present moment. The first verse of his Scripture passage contains the word “now” in describing this freedom and release. New life and liberty replace the awful feelings of guilt, shame, and culpability. Here is the powerful verse that proclaims the promise of present tense forgiveness.

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).
