Read the blotter
The criminal need not buy guns. The law abiding, legal gun owner offers them free of charge by not properly securing them. If you doubt that assertion, read the blotter for a few days.
Good or bad
In thinking about the July 21 TalkBack about spending $10 million on the Northside, one thing sticks out in my mind. It wasn’t that many years ago when Aiken left Joye Cottage and Rose Hill to rot, and now they are a part of Aiken’s history, much like the new, nonfunctioning Railroad Depot that was a privately funded item, and now the City has to care for it. Obviously, all the out-of-state transplants, lots of them with money, have changed Aiken and the way it functions, so you decide if that’s good or bad.
It’s a shame that these gas stations are closing. People have to travel farther to get fuel. They shouldn’t have closed.
The Gem Lakes Homeowner’s Association needs to provide information to the residents on Woodside’s commercial properties selling lots along Town Creek Road that are part of the Gem Lakes plats. They should take a position that those lots can’t be sold until Silver Bluff Road is expanded. When was there a hearing to zone those lots commercial?
The empty stores on the Northside of Aiken have nothing to do with the fact that it wasn’t visited by the residents. It was a chain that was bought out and consolidated. Don’t take money away from the Northside of Aiken.
The United States should honor its commitment to receive the spent fuel from Germany. SRS is the best place in the world for it. The workers are the best in the world at what they do. We should support them.
The mall keeps saying new stores are coming in six to eight weeks. Who’s coming? Are they real stores or fly-by-night operations?
The Aiken Mall is a very safe place to walk, and I enjoy it.
Welcome back, Roger LeDuc. We’ve needed someone to move good projects along. Wish you were going to stay – what a breath of fresh air. Keep up the good work.
I would like to know why a doctor gave me a tetanus shot if they are obsolete.
