Two Aiken natives have opened a gun store on the city’s south side that they say reinvents the gun store model.
Crescent Armory, located at 744 Silver Bluff Road, will open its doors on Tuesday. Co-owners John Speer and Wilson Miles grew up in Aiken and then moved away.
“We wanted to open a business here where we both grew up,” Speer said. “We had some ideas on how to improve on the gun store model and hopefully bring some new options to the Aiken area.”
Speer said their goal is to help new shooters focus on their individual goals, and to also support the needs of experienced shooters with “the largest inventory in Aiken County,” which he said includes 200 firearms.
The store has a variety of handguns, rifles, shotguns, ammo and accessories. Speer said they hope to partner in the future with local instructors to provide shooting education.
“In order to fully satisfy the unique needs of each person, we have reinvented the traditional gun store design to provide a one-of-a-kind retail experience, which we like to call the Crescent Armory Advantage,” Speer said.
This advantage changes the way customers can walk around the store and shop.
“The second they walk through our doors, the difference will be obvious,” Miles said.
The store will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and can be reached by phone at 803-226-0847, or online at www.crescentarmory.com. It also has a Facebook page, titled Crescent Armory.
