Ever since she was a little kid, Ellisha Thomas, 17, had hoped to become a counselor at the Gregg Park Civic Center's summer day camp in Graniteville.

She got her wish over the past month – bringing back her own camp experiences from the age of 5 to 12.

Participating kids enjoyed a wide range of activities and games inside and outside.

Thomas grew up in the Graniteville area before moving two years ago to Nashville, Tennessee.

She returns to the community each year to visit her grandparents, Patty and Ron Knight.

“It's so different and so much fun to go from being a 5-year-old and coming back as a counselor,” Thomas said.

Dalyn Farr served as the head counselor at the camp for the third year.

Although many of the games would appear to have more interest among the youngest kids, “The 11- and 12-year-olds are actually good sports about it,” Farr said.
