Every year, before the start of the Nike Peach Jam, a handful of coaches come together to golf for a cause.
The Nations of Coaches Celebrity Golf Classic tournament, which is in its third year, featured names such as the University of North Carolina’s Roy Williams, Texas Tech University’s Tubby Smith, the University of South Carolina’s Frank Martin, Clemson University’s Brad Brownell, Wichita State University’s Gregg Marshall and more.
This year, the Gamecocks were the winning group, shooting a 53. In second place was the group led by East Tennessee State University’s Murry Bartow.
The tournament, which took place at The River Golf Club, gave back to First Baptist Church of North Augusta’s Laces for Love charity with a check for $3,000.
“For 15 years, they have provided the hospitality room for the coaches at the Peach Jam,” Dale Clayton, the Nations of Coaches’ vice president of coaches ministry, said. “We really wanted to do something special for them, for how well they have taken care of the coaches.”
