A 55-year-old Leesville woman was detained for disorderly conduct on Monday after she was found passed out in a vehicle parked in the middle of Edgefield Avenue, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
Lynette Darby-McDaniel, of Peace Street in Leesville, was charged with disorderly conduct and simple possession of marijuana. She was placed in the Aiken County detention center, but had been released as of Tuesday morning.
Paramedics responded to the scene and were dealing with McDaniel when police arrived about 12:30 p.m. Monday, according to an incident report. The woman was reportedly passed out in the driver’s seat with the keys in the ignition, and officers could smell an odor of alcohol on McDaniel.
McDaniel was arrested for disorderly conduct, and while officers were searching her, they found the remains of a marijuana cigarette in her pocket, police said. They also found a green plant-like material in McDaniel’s purse and an open bottle of vodka in a lunch box inside the vehicle.
The vehicle was parked in the parkway of Edgefield Avenue, and McDaniel’s son arrived and took possession of it, police said. McDaniel provided a breath sample that yielded a blood-alcohol content of .25 percent.
