Savannah River Site retirees may be eligible to receive payments of up to $400,000 that they didn’t even know about, according to the Cold War Patriots.

The group is a nonprofit organization that is holding four town hall meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday to inform retirees on their potential benefits.

The Tuesday meetings will be held in the Strom Thurmond High School cafeteria, located at 1131 Columbia Road in Johnston. The first meeting will begin at 10 a.m., and the second meeting will start at 2 p.m.

The Wednesday meetings will be held at Cail Community Center, located at 320 Millen Road in Sylvania, Georgia. The Cail Center meetings will also be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Kelly Green, from Cold War Patriots public affairs, said retirees may be eligible for not only monetary benefits, but also no-cost medical care, prescriptions and in-home nursing.

“These are very important, informative meetings,” she said. “Many retirees don’t even know about the program or how to apply. So understanding your medical and monetary benefits are very important things to learn.”

Cold War Patriots is a membership based, nonprofit organization with more than 15,000 members nationwide.
