Dogwood Stable’s Palace Malice continued to prepare for his scheduled return to racing early next month, working five-eighths of a mile on the main track at Saratoga Race Course in upstate New York on Sunday morning. The 4-year-old colt turned in a time of 1:00.47.
Only four horses among the 24 others working the same distance on the main track were faster.

Then, after being shipped to Saratoga, the colt breezed a half-mile in :47.17 on June 29 and another half-mile in :49.32 on July 7.
Palace Malice is being pointed for the grade I Whitney Handicap on Aug. 2 at Saratoga. He has captured all four of his races this year as a 4-year-old. The colt has a career record of seven victories in 16 career starts. He has earned $2,631,135.
Last year, Palace Malice won the grade I Belmont Stakes.
