An Aiken man said he caught a thief breaking into his car on Saturday, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

The victim said his father was looking out the window of their Brandy Road home at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and saw an unknown man in his vehicle, according to an incident report. The victim and his father went outside and confronted the suspect, who took off running down Brandy Road toward Two Notch Road.

The victim reported his wallet stolen from the center console of the vehicle, which was unlocked, the report stated. The suspect is described as a white male about 5-foot-6 and appeared “overweight.” He was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and a backpack and was wearing a Lowe’s hat that fell off his head while he was running.
