According to reports provided by the Aiken Department of Public Safety:
A 47-year-old Aiken man allegedly shoplifted $600 in merchandise from a store on Whiskey Road on Friday by pushing a cart full of items from the store and loading the items into a vehicle. When an employee confronted the man in the parking lot, he threw the items back into the cart and fled in the vehicle.
A 16-year-old North Augusta boy was detained for shoplifting on Sunday after he tried to take a pair of sunglasses from a store in Aiken Mall without paying.
A 30-year-old Blackville man was detained for gross intoxication on Saturday after getting loud and belligerent with officers who were trying to talk with him about an earlier incident in which he was kicked out of a Richland Avenue bar due to his intoxication.
A 49-year-old Aiken man was detained for drinking in public on Sunday after he was found with an open can of beer at his feet near the intersection of Hampton Avenue and York Street.
Cruelty to animals was reported on Saturday after a homeowner reported a dog in a yard on Morton Avenue that had no food or water and had its leash tangled around a tree. The complainant told police they hadn’t seen the homeowner in several days. An officer was unable to make contact with the homeowner but untangled the dog’s leash and gave it some water.
An air conditioner unit was reported stolen from an apartment complex on Laurens Street on Friday. The owner told police the unit had just been replaced after being stolen in April.
An unknown man used a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase beer and cigars at a gas station on Richland Avenue on Friday. He later returned and tried to make another purchase, but the clerk refused after learning that the first bill was fake.
An Aiken man reported damage to his vehicle on Friday after a nail on the Union Street bridge reportedly damaged the muffler on his vehicle when he drove over the bridge.
Vandalism was reported on the shed of a business on Silver Bluff Road on Sunday.
A burglary was reported at a home on Schroder Street on Saturday. The owner reported a television, a DVD player and pictures missing.
A vehicle break-in was reported on Newberry Street on Saturday. The owner reported a book bag missing that was later found nearby.

A 30-year-old Beech Island man was detained for criminal domestic violence on Saturday after he took his wife’s phone from her while she was calling the police and threw it at her head, causing a knot. The victim said she was calling police after an argument between them.
A 50-year-old Graniteville man was detained for disorderly conduct on Saturday after he was found sitting on the shoulder of Duncan Road drinking a beer. The man smelled strongly of alcohol and had slurred speech.
