A Windsor man was charged with felony DUI by the South Carolina Highway Patrol following a single-vehicle accident on Sunday that killed a woman passenger.

A spokesperson for the Highway Patrol confirmed a media report about the charge on Monday.

The crash happened at approximately 8:20 p.m. on East Frontage Road near Wire Road in Aiken County.

According to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton, a late model Chevrolet S-10 truck driven by Michael Williams was traveling west when it crossed the eastbound lane in a curve, left the roadway, traveled approximately 100 yards on the eastbound shoulder and overturned several times.

The wife of the driver and only passenger, 55-year-old Kim M. Williams, was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple traumatic injuries to the body. She was wearing her seat belt.

Michael Williams was transported from the scene to Lexington Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash.
