A scuffle occurred at an Aiken Subway restaurant after a verbal altercation escalated, and one man was put on trespass notice.

A customer was injured after he fell and hit his head after he was pushed down by another man at the Subway on East Pine Log Road on Thursday, according to a report from the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

But witnesses said the customer was acting aggressively before the man shoved him to the floor, the report stated.

The customer told investigators he was trying to order a sandwich using a coupon but the cashier didn’t ring it up, according to the report.

He said that upset him, and he asked her to ring his order up again, police said.

He said another man then stepped in between him and the cashier.

The customer said he put his hands behind his back as the man yelled at him, and that’s when the man pushed him, causing him to fall and hit his head on the floor, according to a police report.

The cashier told investigators the customer became verbally abusive while ordering his sandwich, and started to curse at her as well as other customers.

The cashier said she was startled, walked away from the cash register, and the customer followed her down the counter while continuing to yell at her, according to a report.

She said a man then stepped in and asked the customer to calm down but the customer continued to verbally “provoke the unknown man while standing with his hands behind his back,” the report read.

The man then pushed the customer, and he left, according to the report.

Another witness’ account closely matched what the cashier told police, and after reviewing surveillance footage of the incident that showed the customer acting in a threatening manner, the customer was put on trespass notice, according to the report.
