An Aiken man was detained for two counts of attempted murder on Friday after he allegedly chased down a car in New Ellenton and fired a gun at the occupants, according to the New Ellenton Police Department.

Sharon Alandis Bush, 22, of Dry Branch Road, was also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime and third-degree assault and battery. He was placed in the Aiken County detention center, but had been released as of Tuesday afternoon.

The incident began late on Friday afternoon when Bush allegedly followed a vehicle as it turned from Main Street onto Sanders Avenue, according to Chief Alesia Parks. While traveling down Sanders Avenue, Bush passed the vehicle and began firing a gun at it.

Bush then pulled in front of the vehicle and slammed on his brakes, Parks said. He began firing at the victimís vehicle again, but the victim shifted the vehicle into reverse and backed away.

Neither the victim nor his passenger were injured, Parks said. Itís not yet clear how Bush and the victim know each other.
