The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate suspicious fires that were reported in North Augusta on Monday.
The fires occurred at a trailer on the 2000 block of Thomas Road at 1:50 p.m. and at another mobile home on Dabbs Lane at about 6:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.
The first blaze was reported by a resident living near the property. The fire was considered suspicious because the trailer was apparently vacant, and the electricity was not connected, according to the report.
Several people had been seen entering and exiting the property before but not on Monday, according to the report.
Gunshots were heard about five to 10 minutes prior to the fire but deputies were unable to find evidence of anyone discharging a firearm in the vicinity of that property, the report read.
The second fire was at the Dabbs Lane trailer, which also appeared vacant as there was no electricity, and the cable had been cut near the pole, the report read. The fire was started inside the residence, according to investigators.
The Midland Valley Fire chief said that his department responded to another suspicious fire on Dabbs Lane on May 5.
