SALISBURY, Md. — The Augusta GreenJackets lost their second consecutive game to the Delmarva Shorebirds Thursday, falling 6-0 for their fourth loss in a row. The GreenJackets were limited to five hits in the shutout, and recorded nine strikeouts. Shorebirds starting pitcher Mitch Horacek (1-3) had seven of the punchouts in seven innings, without surrendering a walk.
Augusta starter Keury Mella (2-2) was strong through five innings, but fell apart after. He only recorded one out in the sixth inning, surrendering three runs to turn a one-run deficit into a 4-0 hole his squad never escaped.
The losing skid has dropped the GreenJackets (15-18) below .500 and has them eight games behind first-place Savannah in the South Atlantic League’s Southern Division. Augusta will conclude it’s three-game series against Delmarva tonight at 7:05.
