State contractor charged with breach of trust

COLUMBIA (AP) — A contractor with South Carolina’s disabilities agency has been charged with breach of trust.

The S.C. State Law Enforcement Division said 39-year-old Edwina Perteich Jackson was arrested on Wednesday.

Starting in 2009, police said Jackson was working with the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs to provide and support employment services for a specific program. A

uthorities said agency auditors found invoices from the program’s operating account that showed payments to Jackson for personal expenses of more than $10,000.

Court records listed no attorney for Jackson. She faces up to 10 years in prison if she is convicted.
