The Fox Creek High School baseball team won its second consecuitive District IV championship on Wednesday.

The Predators (23-2) beat Ware Shoals 10-0 for the second time in a five-day span to advance in the Class A baseball playoffs.

Its awesome, Wes Brown, Fox Creeks head coach, said of the accomplishment. Thats one of our goals we set out for at the beginning of the year. We didnt give up a run in the whole district and its only going to get tougher from here. Its one of our goals that weve accomplished and now we move on to the next set of goals for the playoffs.

Browns team wrapped up District IV with 10-0 wins against Great Falls and Ware Shoals twice. On Wednesday, the Predators came out hot, scoring six runs in the first inning and four in the second to smother the Hornets. Leadoff hitter Darshon Broadwater started the game with a bloop single, sparking Fox Creek to its big inning.

Thats big and, like Ive said all season, if this team comes into the game with their attitude set right, were tough to beat, Brown said. That sets the tone, Broadwater is kind of that guy, he gets on base and we just go from there. He can turn a singe into a double or, if hes on first hell be on second (soon after). He give us a good opportunity to score...

Fellow seniors Forrest Whitfield and Thomas Colvin finished the game with multiple hits for the Predators, with each player going 2-for-3. Whitfield had a pair of doubles, drove in two runs and scored a run.

I just got up with men on base and knew I had to hit them in, he said. I had to do the job for our team and I was able to do that today.

Brett Butler was nearly unhittable on the mound. The senior Southpaw threw a gem, allowing only one hit in four innings of work.

He did a good job and thats something we talked about before the game today - hes a pitcher we know is going to throw a lot of strikes, Brown said. Hes going to make a lot of outs for us, we just have to play good defense behind him. He is a good pitcher and when he keeps the ball down, hes very effective. He showed today.

Fox Creek will travel to Lewisville for its next playoff game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
