North Augusta Public Safety is currently searching for two men who allegedly attempted a robbery at the Waffle House on Edgefield Road early Monday morning.
The incident took place shortly after midnight, when an employee was held up by two black males toward the rear of the store, according to a report. One of the men put the employee in a headlock and put a handgun to his left temple and told him “You gonna give us that money,” the report read.
The subjects attempted to drag the employee back into the store, but he was able to escape. The subjects then ran towards the back of the store.
The employee stated that he could feel the hair of one of the subjects on his neck, and that it felt like a dreadlock style of hair, according to the report.
A short time prior to the incident, a subject tried to pay for an order with what was believed to be a counterfeit $100 bill. Another employee within the restaurant described the man as a light skinned black male, approximately 150 pounds, shoulder length dreadlock hair, gold caps on his teeth and that he was wearing a red long-sleeved Polo shirt. He was also driving a dark colored pick-up truck, according to the report.
