Aiken County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a second man on Monday who was wanted for an armed robbery that happened in March.
Shawn West, 40, was detained in the 100 block of Hidden Springs Drive in Jackson after deputies responded to a call regarding a suspicious person, according to Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Capt. Eric Abdullah.
West was one of two suspects wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on March 18 at a home located in the 1000 block of Old Double Springs Road in Jackson. The second suspect in that robbery, Justin R. Voigt, was arrested last week on outstanding warrants in this case.
When deputies attempted to make contact with West, he and a female ran into a wooded area behind residences on Hidden Springs Drive, police said. The Aiken County Bloodhound Tracking Team was called to the scene where they were able to track West, Abdullah said. He was taken into custody around 10 a.m.
The female with whom West fled did not have any outstanding charges, police said.
West was transported to the Aiken County detention center.
