Boys’ Soccer

Aiken 3

Silver Bluff 1

Aiken picked up a 3-1 win in non-region soccer action against Silver Bluff on Monday.

Jacob Norton, Troy Rohr and Nick Smith scored goals for Aiken (11-5), and Machi Provost had an assist. Stephen Herndon had seven saves as he handled goal keeping duties in the game.

Aiken will face White Knoll today.

Nerlin Nunez had the lone goal for Silver Bluff. The Bulldogs (7-3, 5-2 Region 5-AA) will be off until Thursday when they take on Bamberg-Ehrhardt.

Girls’ Soccer

Aiken 11

Silver Bluff 0

Kelsee Sapp did a bit of everything in the Hornets’ shutout of Silver Bluff on Monday. Sapp finished the game with three goals, an assist and a save in goal.

Sapp wasn’t the only player with multiple goals for Aiken (4-6, 0-5 Region 5-AAAA). Amanda Teasdale and Makenzie Cude both scored two goals in the game.

Katie Maivelett, Megan Cathey, Tracey Hoel, Gill Quinn and Emily Colster were the other goal scorers. Hoel also had three assist.

Aiken will get back to region play today against White Knoll in Lexington.

Baseball

Wagener-Salley 9

Williston-Elko 4

Cody Rogers’ three-run triple in the fifth inning broke the game open for the War Eagles (8-6, 6-4 Region 4-A). Daniel Wiles was the winning pitcher. He struck out eight Williston-Elko batters in the game to move to 3-2 on the season.

Wagener-Salley is back in action today against North at home. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Fox Creek 21

HKT 4

Thomas Colvin was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate as Fox Creek (17-2, 9-0) got a dominating win over region foe HKT.

Mike Ray, Brett Sitton and Tommy Joe Carroll each had two hits in the game. Peyton Dolittle (1-0) was the winning pitcher for the Predators.

Fox Creek plays Ridge Spring-Monetta today at 5 p.m.

Softball

Silver Bluff 9

Edisto 3

Karly Kinard struck out 10 and the Bulldogs got a strong offensive performance in a 9-3 region win on Monday.

Alexus Robertson led the way offensively with four hits and four RBIs for Silver Bluff (12-5). Kinard and Jasmine Squirewell each had three hits in the game.

Silver Bluff’s next game will be against Barnwell today at 6 p.m.

Wardlaw 7

King 6

Wardlaw (10-6) got multiple-hit performances from Jojo Allen and Parker Wilkes en route to a one-run win over King Academy.

Wilkes was also the winning pitcher as a result of her four-inning relief outing.

Wardlaw travels to face Fox Creek today.

Midland Valley 12

South Aiken 0

Midland Valley moved to 17-5 on the season with a blowout win over South Aiken. Amber Hong went 3-for-4 in the game with a home run, four RBIs and three runs scored. Not to be outdone, Morgan Smith was also 3-for-4 with three runs scored, and she had two RBIs. CJ Wilson also finished with multiple hits and two RBIs for Midland Valley. The Mustangs will face Airport today.

Boys’ Tennis

Midland Valley 5

Barnwell 1

Midland Valley’s boys’ tennis team earned its second win of the season with a 5-1 victory over Barnwell in non-region action.

Nick Hightower, Raheem Mckie, Nick Morris and Evan Morris earned wins for the Mustangs (2-4) in singles action. Midland Valley also won the doubles match as well.

Midland Valley will take on Airport today.

Golf

Midland Valley places third

The Mustangs played at the Bulldog Invitational at Belle Meade Country Club over the weekend and finished third in the eight-team field. Jonathan Mitchell led the Mustangs with a round of 77 which was also placed him as the second-best score in the tournament. He was also named to the All-Tournament team. Seth Toole shot an 81, Andrew Doolittle shot an 86, and Skyler Curry shot an 88.
