Deputies investigate Wagener armed robbery
Aiken County deputies detained three people after an armed robbery that occurred in Wagener on Friday.
The armed robbery took place at B&B Loans on Railroad Street in Wagener, just after 1 p.m., when two men entered the business and took an undisclosed amount of money, according to Wagener Police Chief Tom Gray. At least one of the men was armed, Gray said.
The money was not taken from the business, but rather personal cash from the clerk, Gray said.
The two men fled the scene on foot, and Wagener police responded to the scene at B&B Loans. No injuries were reported.
Shortly after the robbery, deputies detained three people for questioning during a traffic stop on Highway 302 near Burkelo Road, according to Aiken County Sheriff's Spokesman Jason Feemster.
The vehicle that was pulled over matched the description of one involved in other armed robberies that have happened in the area, Gray added.
Feemster said on Friday that no charges have been filed yet.
The robbery is in the early stages of the investigation, which will be handled by the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
