Boys’ Soccer

Silver Bluff 4

Calhoun County 0

The Bulldogs (4-1, 3-1 Region 5-AA) earned a shutout Monday.

Nerlin Nunez scored two goals for the Bulldogs and assisted on another. Both Edy Zambrano and Izaak Martinez had a goal and an assist in the game. Omar Zambrano also had an assist for Silver Bluff. The team will be back in action on Thursday when it travels to Barnwell.

Girls’ Soccer

Aiken 3

Barnwell 1

Katie Maibelettt scored two goals for the Hornets and Daniella Negrete also scored one as Aiken won a non-region matchup with Barnwell. Mackenzie Cude had seven saves in goal for Aiken (2-4, 0-3 Region 5-AAAA). Aiken will travel to North Augusta today.

Baseball

South Aiken 2

Gilbert 1

South Aiken picked up a win in non-region play Monday.

Trey Polewski was 2-for-2 in the game, and Mars Flores and Stokes Griffith were responsible for the RBIs. The Thoroughbreds will play Lexington today.

Midland Valley 12

Silver Bluff 1

Wyatt West (1-0) was the winning pitcher as the Mustangs improved to 8-6. AJ Mealing was 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs.

Softball

Silver Bluff 14

Strom Thurmond 1

Jasmine Squirewell, Alexus Robertson and Kelsey Andrews each recorded three-hit for the Bulldogs, and Karly Kinard was dominant in the circle in Silver Bluff’s blowout win. Haley Key and Andrews each had two RBIs. Silver Bluff (7-4) will take on Bamberg-Ehrhardt tonight at 7 p.m.

Hammond 9

Wardlaw 7

Wardlaw fell to 7-5 on the season in a loss to Hammond. The Patriots will be back in action against Columbia home school today at 5:30 in Johnston.

Dutch Fork 7

South Aiken 1

South Aiken fell to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in region 5-AAAA play after Monday’s loss to Dutch Fork. The T’Breds’ Hannah Martin struck out six batters and Emily Harley had a double in the game. South Aiken plays Lexington today.

Junior Varsity

Midland Valley 15

Chapin 3 (5 inn)

Mallory Hodges went 3-for-4 for Midland Valley with three RBIs. Danielle Brooks was 2-for-5 with four RBIs.

Logan Maybrey was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate. She also earned the win in the circle for the Mustangs (5-3, 4-1), who play Strom Thurmond today at 5:30.

Dutch Fork 10

South Aiken 4

South Aiken (3-4-1) fell in a Region contest against Dutch Fork. Natalie Bolen went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the game. The T-Breds will play Lexington today.

Boys’ Tennis

South Aiken remained unbeaten with the victory. South Aiken won all of its five singles matches in straight sets and duplicated that success in the doubles match. The T-Breds (8-0, 6-0 Region 5-AAAA) will play Lexington today at Odell Weeks tennis center.

Midland Valley was victorious in the its golf matchup at Midland Valley Country Club. Jonathan Mitchell was the low scorer for the Mustangs with a round of 37.

Strom Thurmond’s Josh Chriswell was the individual medalist. He shot a 33.
