When told the reason for daylight saving time, the Old Indian said, “Only the government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket and sew it to the bottom and have a longer blanket.”
The Savannah River Site was good enough to save more than a million lives during World War II. It is a shame that we don’t have enough money to clean up our mess.
SRS continues to be a dangerous, confusing, disorganized, waste of taxpayer dollars and eminent debacle. The support and funding dramatically fluctuates from month to month as historically reported and documented in this newspaper. A service to our country of which to be proud has become an embarrassment. We need to solicit and support increased foreign and private investment and prosper like the rest of the state.
After consuming alcohol, why not test your ability to drive before you get behind the wheel? Someone told me, “I truly only consumed two drinks and failed the sobriety and Breathalyzer tests.” The finger-touch, eye movement, walk-the-line, alphabet recite and standing-on-one foot are easy to perform for most sober individuals. I think law enforcement could educate students of all ages on these common tests.
In your lifetime, a memorial you need to see is The Crazy Horse memorial in South Dakota. It’s in the same state where the government funded and maintained Mount Rushmore and Badlands National Parks. During the government shutdown last year, parks included, I visited this very spiritual location that exclusively depends on donations. When completed, it will surpass anything our government has produced with tax dollars.
