Free agent pass rusher Jared Allen has agreed to terms with the Bears on a four-year deal to help replace Julius Peppers in Chicago.
A person with knowledge of the agreement tells The Associated Press that Allen will get $15.5 million guaranteed on a deal that could be worth as much as $32 million. The person requested anonymity because the terms of the deal have not been officially announced.
The 31-year-old Allen spent the previous six seasons with the NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings. He had 111/2 sacks last season and has reached double digits in sacks for seven straight years.
He also had talks with the Seahawks and Cowboys.
The Bears were in the market for a pass rusher after Peppers left to sign with the Green Bay Packers. Their defense ranked 30th in the NFL last season.
