Highway Patrol searches for vehicle in pedestrian-involved hit-and-run

A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run collision that occurred on Monday evening in Burnettown is in serious condition, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. on Augusta Road near Anthony Drive. The victim, Billy Ray Bagwell Sr., 65, of Bath, was transported to Georgia Regents University.

According to the Highway Patrol, the vehicle was traveling north on Augusta Highway and hit a pedestrian crossing the road. The vehicle proceeded to leave the scene.

The only description of the vehicle that the Highway Patrol has is that it's a light colored four-door sedan with damage to the lower right front side.
