An arrest has been made in a shooting that occurred this morning in Warrenville that left one woman dead.

Todd Brown, 46, of Warrenville, will be charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and first degree burglary, according to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened on Pine Street at 7:19 this morning, and one person was found in the front yard suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according Aiken County Sheriff's Capt. Eric Abdullah. The victim was transported to Georgia Regents University where she later died. Her name has not been released at this time.

According to reports, the assailant kicked in the front door of the home where he got into a verbal and physical fight with the victim, who was his ex-girlfriend. The argument later ended outside the home, and a witness told deputies that they heard shots being fired.

The assailant fled before deputies arrived on scene but was later arrested.

"We woke up and there was cop cars everywhere," said neighbor Teri Toole. "I saw them putting her in the ambulance but didn't see if she was moving."
