The Aiken County Sheriff's Office has apprehended a Warrenville man who was allegedly involved in a shooting in Jackson on Thursday.

On Friday, a member of Corey Fields' family contacted authorities after he showed up at their house, according to Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Jason Feemster. Deputies arrived on the scene, and Fields tried to escape by jumping through a window.

During Fields' attempt to flee, he received a laceration to one of his hands and ran into a wooded area.

Deputies took Fields, 18, into custody and transported him to Aiken Regional for treatment.

Upon release he will be transported to the Aiken County Detention Center, according to Feemster.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Fields is a suspect in a shooting that happened at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday at a home on the 5000 block of Virginia Hill Court.

Feemster said earlier Friday that investigators are expecting to obtain warrants on Fields for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The condition of the victim, who was shot in the abdomen, is unknown. He was transported to Georgia Regents University for treatment.
