The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that sent two people to the hospital.

The incident happened about 3:15 a.m. on Saturday at a home on the 100 block of Dudley Drive in Warrenville, according to Capt. Eric Abdullah. Officers found two people, 31-year-old Christopher Thomas and 44-year-old James Milton with apparent gunshot wounds.

An initial investigation revealed that at some point after a domestic dispute between Thomas and his live-in girlfriend, Thomas returned to Milton's home, where it's alleged he fired a weapon at Milton, Abdullah said. Milton returned fire with his weapon.

Thomas and Milton were taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
