Softball

North Augusta 13 Saluda 0

North Augusta (1-0) was led by senior pitcher Meghan Whitfield (1-0), who fired a complete game no-hitter. Whitfield struck out 11 Tigers and walked two in the game. Maddie Shiver went 1-for-4 with a grand slam and Natalie Burke went 1-for-2 with a two-run homer. Karly Heath went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI, Brooke Lavallee went 3-for-4 with a double and both Grace Flanders and Haley Dunbar went 2-for-4 with an RBI each. North Augusta will be back in action Wednesday at 5 p.m. against South Aiken.

Midland Valley 6 Fox Creek 3

Midland Valley (2-0) got a six-inning performance from Kelsey (1-0) Boatwright in the Circle. Morgan Smith and Keielana smith each had two hits and Emily Mayson earned the save. the Mustangs will play Saluda Tuesday.

Barnwell 7 South Aiken 6

South Aiken (0-2) dropped its second straight game in as many games. Janee McCarthy hit a home run in the game and finished with three RBIs for the T-Breds. Caroline Hicks was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs in the game. South Aiken will next take the field on Wednesday against North Augusta.

Baseball

Fox Creek 5 Barnwell 0

The Fox Creek baseball team opened the season with a win in the Palmetto Classic. Dalton Swires (1-0) picked up the win as the Predators used four pitchers (Swires, Brett Butler, Mitchell Walters and Jesse Chavous) to complete a one-hit shutout of the Warhorses. The lone hit came in the fifth inning. Leadoff man Terrance Hillary went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Deondre Baskett went 2-for-3. Roby Gillespie and Brett Sitton both had the other Predator RBIs (the other runs were unearned). The Predators will be back in action on Tuesday against Silver Bluff at 7:30 p.m. at the Palmetto Classic at Midland Valley.

Colleton County 6 Midland Valley 5

Midland Valley (1-1) pitcher Matthew Faircloth suffered the loss as Midland Valley dropped its first game of the year.

Justin Blackmon went 2-for-4 on the day for the Mustangs.
