An Aiken man allegedly assaulted his elderly father after becoming upset because their home smelled like stuffed peppers, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

The incident happened about 7:50 p.m. on Monday at a home on Inverness Street, according to an incident report. The 81-year-old victim told officers his 54-year-old son “became upset when he began to smell the aroma of stuffed peppers” throughout the home.

The victim said he began talking to his son in order to calm him down when his son struck him twice with a closed fist, the report stated. He was not injured and declined medical attention. The suspect allegedly threw several household items around and threatened the victim and his wife.

The victim declined to press charges.
