BlueCross BlueShield mobile unit coming to Aiken

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina's mobile unit will be making a stop in Aiken on Thursday. The purpose of the visit is to provide information about the Affordable Care Act health insurance plans that are available through BlueCross BlueShield and BlueChoice HealthPlan of South Carolina.

“We have been to all virtually all corners of the state with our mobile unit, and we continue to see people who aren't quite sure what they need to do; they are confused,” said Adam Myrick, a BlueCross BlueShield spokesman. “They ask us, ‘What do I need to do? Where do I need to be?' We expect the same thing to happen in Aiken on Thursday.”

The mobile unit will be at Doctors Care at 850 Aiken Mall Drive from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. To make an appointment, call 855-382-2583 or send an email to Mobile@SCBlueRetailCenters.com.

“We do recommend making an appointment, but if somebody doesn't have an opportunity to do that, we will work them in,” Myrick said. “If they are looking to get some assistance in walking through the enrollment process online at healthcare.gov, they need to know their expected or estimated annual income for 2014, and they also need to bring any specific personal information related to any dependents that they might want on the plan.”

The Affordable Care Act's open enrollment period for 2014 runs through March 31.

“If someone has questions about our private insurance offerings, we'll certainly be able to help them with that as well,” Myrick said. “Whatever the customer wants to do, we'll be there to answer questions and provide them with facts and figures so they can make the best decisions for themselves.”
