More people charged in case of slain teen

ST. MATTHEWS (AP) — More people have been charged in the case of a slain 17-year-old Orangeburg girl.

Authorities said on Saturday that 28-year-old Derrick Sumter is accused of disposing of a bag containing a gun that Jerry McKnight and Bryant McKnight used to kill Kymmara Randolph.

Sheriff Thomas Summers said Randolph was killed shortly after she was last seen leaving an Orangeburg home with a man Feb. 13. Authorities found her body on Friday in a swamp after several days of searching.

Deputies said the brothers mistakenly thought Randolph had set them up to be robbed.

Sumter and another man, Jonathan McKnight, are charged with accessory after the fact. Sandra Hughes is charged with obstruction of justice. It wasn’t known if any of the defendants had attorneys.
