According to reports provided by the Aiken Department of Public Safety:


A 16-year-old Aiken boy was detained for third-degree assault and battery last week after allegedly slapping a 14-year-old female classmate on the face repeatedly during lunch. The boy initially denied striking the girl, then said he “lightly tapped” her.


A 24-year-old Olar man was detained for shoplifting on Saturday after he tried to take jeans, socks and steaks from a store without paying.


Two unknown suspects took a car stereo and speaker from a store on Whiskey Road without paying on Saturday.


An Aiken man reported last week that someone took mail from his mailbox on Abbeville Avenue.


A burglary was reported at a home on Taylor Street on Friday. The owner reported two televisions, two electronics tablets and two pairs of shoes missing.


Additional burglaries were reported on Silver Bluff Road, Morton Avenue and Carver Terrace.


A vehicle break-in was reported on Foxwood Drive on Wednesday. The owner reported a wallet and cash missing.


Additional vehicle break-ins were reported on Laurens Street on Saturday.


According to reports provided by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office:


A North Augusta man was detained for disorderly conduct on Sunday after he was found lying in a parked vehicle on Monterey Avenue. The man smelled of alcohol and exhibited signs of intoxication.


A 27-year-old Hephzibah, Ga., man was detained for shoplifting on Saturday after he tried to take items from a store on Jefferson Davis Highway in Beech Island without paying.


A burglary was reported at a home on Chestnut Avenue in North Augusta on Sunday. The owner reported jewelry, handguns and medication missing.


Additional burglaries were reported on Harbor Drive in Aiken, Duke Drive in Aiken, Horse Shoe Bend Road in Aiken, Hester Lane in Graniteville, Walkers Pine Lane in Aiken, Augusta Road in Beech Island and Jennison Place in Beech Island.


Vehicles were reported stolen from Edisto Road in Aiken and Seymour Drive in North Augusta.


A vehicle break-in was reported on Cumbee Trail Road in Aiken on Saturday.


A generator was reported stolen from Whitetail Drive in Williston on Sunday.
