Gov. Haley in Aiken to assess storm damage

Gov. Nikki Haley is in Aiken today to view storm damage and meet with local government officials and utility crews.

President Barack Obama declared South Carolina a disaster area on Wednesday after the second storm in the past two weeks in the state.

This week's storm, however, has crippled the state and Aiken County. More than 300,000 customers still have no power across the state, and about 44,000 were without power in Aiken County Thursday night.

Haley's schedule Friday in Aiken will be:

• 10:30 a.m.: Visit with utility crews at the Aiken Airport

• 11:15 a.m.: Meet with City of Aiken officials at the Aiken Administration and Finance Building

She then plans to visit Colleton County.
