Rogers

The following local students graduated from Clemson University on Dec. 19, 2013: Charles Newman Attaway of North Augusta, who graduated with a bachelor of science in construction science and management; Christopher David Burckhalter of North Augusta, who graduated with a bachelor of science in Financial management; Megan Ann Jessee of North Augusta, who graduated with a bachelor of science in nursing; Robert Matthew Long of North Augusta, who graduated with a bachelor of science in packaging science; Timothy Joseph Salizzoni of North Augusta, who graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor of science in Civil engineering; Anabeth Jarrard Stribling of North Augusta, who graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor of arts in elementary Education; Peter Tasker Thompson of North Augusta, who graduated with a bachelor of science in management.


Local students honored by Clemson University

The following local residents have been named to the Presidentís List at Clemson University for the fall 2013 semester: Haley Barinowski of North Augusta, whose major is marketing; Joshua Carter of North Augusta, whose major is production studies in performing arts; Gregory Edison of North Augusta, whose major is computer science; Alysse Edwards of North Augusta, whose major is mathematical sciences; Alyssa-Kay Gavalas of North Augusta, whose major is parks, recreation and tourism management; William Harris of North Augusta, whose major is bioengineering; Kaitlyn Kennamer of North Augusta, whose major is food science; Kay Meyer of North Augusta, whose major is nursing; Benjamin Morgan of North Augusta, whose major is chemistry; Rebecca Phifer of North Augusta, whose major is microbiology; Shayne Rimer of North Augusta, whose major is general engineering; Rebecca Rudisill of North Augusta, whose major is biological sciences; Timothy Salizzoni of North Augusta, whose major is civil engineering; Anabeth Stribling of North Augusta, whose major is elementary education; Philip White of North Augusta, whose major is secondary education. To be named to the Presidentís List, a student must achieve a 4.0 (all As) grade-point average.

To be named to the deanís list, a student must achieve a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.


McKevie named to Chancellorís List

Jalisa McKevie of North Augusta has been named to the Fall 2013 chancellorís list at the University of South Carolina Upstate. To be eligible for the chancellorís list, students must earn a 4.0 and be enrolled in at least 12 course hours.


Rogers called as pastor at Mount Zion

Tom H. Rogers was recently called by Mount Zion Baptist Church, 720 Mt. Zion Road, Trenton, to serve as pastor. Rogers has served in many aspects of ministry that includes Promise Keepers Ambassador and Counselor, and as Chaplain with several police and fire departments.


He has been involved in public safety since 1974, serving in Belvedere, Aiken and North Augusta. He has served as Director of the South Carolina Legion Law Enforcement Cadet Academy for the last three years and teaches Drug Abuse Resistance Education in schools.


Rogers and his wife, Jean, were married at Belvedere First Baptist in 1977, and have served in many aspects of ministry at that church. Their son and daughter were dedicated, baptized, and raised to be involved in the churchís ministry, accompanying Tom on some of his many mission trips to central Mexico. Nor married and living in Darlington and Florence, their children continue to serve in their churches.


Rogers, a licensed minister and ordained deacon, was ordained to the ministry on Oct. 6 by Belvedere First Baptist.
