LAKELAND, Fla. — The No. 2 USC Aiken men’s golf team opened the spring portion of its season at the Matlock Collegiate Classic, and sit in sixth place after two rounds of play.


At the par-72, 6,065-yard Lone Palm Golf Club, Florida Southern is hosting the event. The first two rounds were played Monday with the final round to follow today.


Brandon Robinson-Thompson paces head coach Mike Carlisle’s team after shooting a first-day total of 143. He is currently tied for seventh and is one-under par.


Hayden Letien was just one stroke behind Robinson-Thompson with a 36-hole total of 144. He shot an even par and is tied for 11th.


Gaines Milliner opened the tournament by shooting a two-round tally of 149 for a five-over par score. He is tied for 37th.


Stephane Boudreau and Kyle Godsman are tied for 48th place. Both shot a 151, seven-over par. Boudreau opened the tournament with a 77 and followed it up with a 74 while Godsman totaled a 76-75 for his 36-hole score.


Lynn leads the tournament with a score of 567. The squad is followed by Barry, which finished the second round with a total of 569.


Armstrong is in third after firing a 573. Nova Southeastern (575) and Florida Tech (578) rounded out the top five.


The tournament concludes on Tuesday at Lone Palm Golf Club with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
