Couples planning to get married have a lot of decisions to make. What will they wear? What kind of cake do they want? Where will they go on their honeymoon?

Aiken's Premier Wedding Expo can help them answer those questions and any others they might have. The Aiken Standard, All-Star Tents and Events, Global Spectrum and WJBF-TV are the sponsors of the event's sixth edition. It will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 23 at the USC Aiken Convocation Center on Robert M. Bell Parkway.

“We're going to have a one-stop shop for all your wedding needs,” said Cathy Shaw, who is director of sponsorship sales for the Convocation Center, and the Wedding Expo's coordinator.

The Expo will have more than 30 vendors offering information about travel, photographers and flowers. In addition, there will be a fashion show featuring wedding dresses, mother of the bride gowns and bridesmaid gowns from David's Bridal of Augusta.

“We'll also have some stuff that a lot of people might not think about,” Shaw said. “Wells Fargo will be here if you need money to plan your wedding or buy a house. There will be representatives of apartment complexes because people who get married will be moving in together.”

New this year is a contest called Diamond Dash & Dig. The prize, donated by Floyd & Green, is a diamond engagement ring that is worth more than $7,000, according to Shaw.

Beginning Thursday, clues for the Dash & Dig will appear in print editions of the Aiken Standard, and they also will be posted on the Aiken Standard, Wedding Expo and WJBF's Facebook pages.

There will be no fewer than nine clues, and each will describe a business. Couples must identify and visit each business to collect a plastic diamond-shaped case. The more cases they collect, the more entries they will have in a drawing that will determine the two couples who will compete to find the diamond ring by digging into a large cake on the day of the Wedding Expo.

Tickets for the Wedding Expo are $10 each. They can be purchased by calling 1-877-428-4849 or by visiting Tickets also are available at the Convocation Center box office.

“The Expo is going to be a great event,” Shaw said. “You'll be able to see some of the best vendors in the Aiken area.”
