A middle school student was detained on Monday after striking another student and putting up a struggle with teachers, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.

Officers were called to an out-of-control juvenile about 9 a.m. at Schofield Middle School on Kershaw Street, according to a report. The juvenile suspect told officers he wanted to “get back” at the juvenile victim for hitting him.

A teacher, who was able to separate the suspect and the victim, said she saw the suspect strike the victim while he was sitting in class, the report stated. Another teacher and a janitor assisted her in breaking the students apart. The teacher said she was pushed several times in her attempts to break them apart.

The juvenile was charged with disturbing school. He was released to his mother.
