AIKEN, SC – Memorial services for Pastor Richard Poock, 89, of Aiken, will be held at 2pm Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, will full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 961 Trail Ridge Road, Aiken, SC, 29803. Pastor Poock, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014. Born in Sandusky, Ohio, he was a son of the late William and Dorothy Krawetski Poock. Pastor Poock was a retired Lt. Colonel in the USAF and was a Korean War Vet. He served tours as a Chaplain in the U.S., Turkey, England, the Panama Canal and Korea. He also retired as the Associate Pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he was one of the founders of the Focus Group, Fellowship of Older Christians United to Serve. After retirement, his focus was keeping fit in body, mind and soul. He was married to the late Mary Jane Poock, and during their marriage of 66 years, they were a partnership for God’s ministry during that time. Survivors include 6 children, 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
