Man shot in leg during robbery

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery on Thursday during which a man was shot in the leg.

Officers were called to the intersection of Trolley Line Road and Tricemont Street about 8 p.m. on Thursday, where they found the 19-year-old victim lying on the side of the road, according to a sheriff’s report.

The victim said the suspect approached him while he was walking, presented a chrome revolver and tried to rob him.

The victim said they struggled, and that the suspect shot him in the left leg, the report stated.

He had a gunshot wound to the left thigh and was transported to Aiken Regional Medical Centers for treatment, according to the reprot.

The suspect fled toward Gregg Avenue. He is described as a black male, about 6-foot-2 and weighing between 120 and 140 pounds. He has brown eyes and was wearing all black clothing, a black “full-face” mask with white fabric over the mouth and gray or blue gloves.
