Cabela's plans to open Augusta store in mid-March

Cabela's announced its doors will officially open March 20 at its Augusta outpost store, according to a recent press release.

Starting a weekend-long celebration, doors will open at 11 a.m. and feature outdoor celebrities, giveaways and more treats for customers. The 42,000-square-foot Augusta location is the first for Georgia, and it will employ approximately 90 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees.

The store is located at 833 Cabela Drive on the south side of I-20 at Riverwatch Parkway in the Village at Riverwatch development.

Cabela's in Augusta will have a rugged design to it, featuring a core-flex floor plan with a variety of seasonal products. The store will also house a wildlife display, an indoor archery range and tech room as well as a gun counter.

Currently operating 50 stores across North America, the sports store giant plans to open an additional 20 over the next two years, including one located in Acworth, Ga., in the fall of 2014.
