Darley Stable’s Long River makes it three straight
It’s been a fecund four months for Darley Stable’s Long River.
The chestnut colt’s success is becoming as impressive as his name. It started on Sept. 22, where he just missed winning an allowance race at Belmont Park by a neck. However, it’s been his last three starts, consecutive victories, an allowance score and back-to-back stakes wins that have made people take notice.
The 4-year-old son of A.P. Indy, broken and trained in Aiken by Tim Jones, and conditioned by Kiaran McLaughlin at the racetrack, scored a 3/4-length victory in the 1 1/16-mile Evening Attire Stakes on Saturday at Aqueduct. Irad Ortiz Jr. had the return call on the winner. The combination had won the Time For a Change Stakes last month at Aqueduct.
Long River has four wins and two seconds from nine career starts, and has earned $248,072.
