Charges will not be filed against a man who allegedly created a disturbance in a Whiskey Road restaurant and then tried to shoplift from a store on Tuesday, according to the Aiken Department of Public Safety.
Officers were called to Arby’s on Whiskey Road about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday regarding a man who approached an employee and began yelling at him, using racial slurs, according to the report. The man then left.
Officers located the suspect entering Target, the report stated. He was found to have several store items concealed on himself. He told officers he was going to pay for the items but didn’t have any money.
The 55-year-old suspect was found to be mentally ill and under the care of a local home, the report stated. He was released from the scene. Both businesses declined to press charges.
